Vice President Kamala Harris will come to Connecticut this week to promote the administration’s $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan,” her office confirmed Tuesday.
Harris will appear in New Haven on Friday with Reps. Rosa DeLauro and Jahana Hayes. They are expected to visit a local child care center.
The trip is part of the Biden administration’s “Help is Here” tour, which highlights how the stimulus plan benefits families. The tour has taken Harris to Denver, Las Vegas and Jacksonville, Fla. so far.
The federal spending plan includes money for child care centers hit hard by the pandemic shutdown. It also includes direct payments to taxpayers and an expansion of the child care tax credit.
Norwich Puzzle pieces are colorful, and when people work together, the pieces can be interlocked to form a beautiful picture.
Those were the images and themes Norwich Free Academy students wanted to convey with their Project Outreach program, “We’re All a Piece of Norwich,” a community art project with students and staff in 11 schools and members of more than 30 community organizations participating. People from age 4 to 80 created colorful puzzle pieces cut out from sheets of paper.
In total, 687 participants submitted completed puzzle pieces to NFA Project Outreach student coordinators Ella Bean, a 10th grader from Preston, and Annika Savage, a senior from Voluntown.
As a business reporter, I write about small businesses opening and closing, manufacturing, food and drink, labor issues and economic data. I particularly love writing about the impact of state and federal policy on local businesses. I also do some education reporting, covering colleges in southeastern Connecticut and regional K-12 issues.
