Through a series of presentations and hands-on activities, participants will learn about native gardens and our pollinators. This is the first event in the series. <br/><br/>Peggy Doty, Environmental Educator for U of I Extension will be speaking on planting host plants for native pollinators and how supporting the native food chain is directly related to human sustainability.
As a wildlife biologist with the Bureau of Land Management, Carrie Hugo knows birds.
But she said the time she spent with Kris Buchler brought her to a new level and love of the outdoors.
"Understanding and recognizing birds by their sounds is like knowing another language that other people don’t know," she said. "I can thank Kris for that."
Since graduating from Penn State with a focus on soil science, Roni Pasi has worked on small scale vegetable production farms, including farms in Southern California and Ohio. Her work includes a stint in Idaho with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service before coming to Colorado’s Front Range. Last November, she moved to the high country, becoming the director of regenerative agriculture for the nonprofit Mountain Roots Food Project in Gunnison Valley, where she’s working to tackle food security.
