he s plastic and insincere. last night santorum solidified his position. interesting stuff coming out of entrance polls last night. for example, those people who said defeating obama was most important, picked up romney. but again, to your point, charles, combining two, the base, those who said the most important thing was finding a true conservative, those who said abortion was the most important issue, they went for santorum, and paul. when you look at those true conservatives, 1% went for mitt romney. what does that mean? that s a problem because you know first races you have iowa and new hampshire, this thing swings south really fast. and can mitt romney hold up in the south? not necessarily being what most of the conservatives consider to be a true conservative. and the mormon issue is going to be a real issue. i spent my holidays in the south religion didn t seem to be an issue. but i think when you get south and people who, you know
perspective. i think, bret, it is remarkable achievement and testament to his determination and his ability as a candidate. you know, it also raises this issue. the knock on rick santorum and you see it reflected to some extent in entrance polls where he doesn t do well on the electability question and that of course, dates from his loss in 2006 in his senate re-election campaign by, what, 17 points or 18 points to democrat bob casey. i think that has been a burden for him to carry and it will continue to be a burden to some extent. this achievement in iowa where he basically went around the whole state and met everybody and convinced people to come out and vote for him to give him a strong finish give him something to say about that give him a bath of welcome public attention. chafed under what he thought was limited attention in the debates and limited news coverage. he will get a waive of that particularly if he wins going into new hampshire. new hampshire hasn t shown, bret recom

hays who hasn t gone to bed yet. he is live in des moines. how do you see it? do i look that bad? bill: no you look great by the way. good morning to you. what do you see? fascinating. what an unbelievable story rick santorum has had. two or three weeks ago this is somebody who was in single digits and roared to a comeback. look at entrance polls last night, 65% of those who sided in the last week or actual caucus day, 65% broke for rick santorum. that tells you everything you need to know about the kind of momentum he was generating here in iowa and the kind of momentum he hopes to carry forward into new hampshire, south carol carolina and florida. bill: new hampshire will be a challenge for santorum. huckabee won iowa and went to new hampshire and only picked up a 11% of the vote. that will be a big hurdle to climb. there is breaking news this morning. michele bachmann has a press
