Enfield Town Council to Vote On Building Consolidation Plan

(Tim Jensen/Patch) ENFIELD, CT The Enfield Town Council will vote Tuesday night on a series of 11 resolutions pertaining to the proposed consolidation of a number of town-owned buildings, including demolition of the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center and the long-vacant Strand Theater building. The proposal, presented by Town Manager Christopher Bromson at a recent council meeting, would involve shifting several departments into various town buildings, including the former Alcorn School, the former Fermi High School, the Enfield Express and the Enfield Senior Center.

Enfield council appoints Cressotti as its newest member

ENFIELD — The Town Council on Monday night appointed Democrat Robert “Bob” Cressotti to join its ranks, filling an at-large seat left vacant by the departure of Bill Kiner. While Republican Councilwoman Kelly Hemmeler abstained from the vote, the rest of the council of seven Republicans and two Democrats approved Cressotti’s appointment during the meeting, which was held via videoconference. COUNCIL APPOINTMENT WHO: Robert “Bob” Cressotti, a Democrat, was appointed to the Enfield Town Council on Monday. WHY: Councilman Bill Kiner, a Democrat who held an at-large seat on the panel, decided to resign. THE TERM: Cressotti will fill out the remainder of Kiner’s two-year term, which expires in November 2021.

The accolades have grown dramatically in scope, from local to statewide to national, with the latest honor being the highest an individual can achieve: election to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. Aleks, 73, received a letter at his Somers home from Lee Roy Smith, executive director of the Oklahoma-based hall of fame, informing him he has been chosen for the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award. (John Zirolli) ENFIELD, CT Today s throwback takes us once again into the pages of John Zirolli s delightful book of photos and stories, entitled I Took a Little Trip to My Hometown. Here we see a mid-1970s cleanup effort by some unidentified Enfield youths at the Hazardville Youth Center, located inside a landmark building which had fallen into serious disrepair: the Hazardville Institute. Built in 1869, the Italian-revival style Institute at various times housed a meeting hall, library, community theater and Grange Hall prior to its use as the youth center. As Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame honoree Bill Cantin recalled in his 2004 induction speech, There was a long, narrow basketball court on the second floor.
