‘Furnish pictures while submitting action-taken report’
Expressing concern over failure of the authorities in checking illegal constructions on the buffer zones of Musi river, the Telangana High Court has instructed them to file an action taken report.
The direction was passed recently by a bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition on illegal encroachments of the areas on Musi river buffer zone.
Asking government counsel what the authorities were doing even as unauthorised structures were coming up on the buffer zone, the High Court bench directed the authorities concerned with the matter to furnish pictures while submitting the action-taken report.

PESHAWAR: The traffic police officials have been directed to accelerate actions against the traffic violators as well those involved in encroachments and not providing space for parking.
A meeting of the Capital City Traffic Police chaired by Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat was informed that 89 per cent of motorcyclists wear helmets while the ratio of wearing seat belts among the motorists had increased.
The officials told the meeting that traffic police had issued notices to commercial plazas without parking for cars and directed the owners to arrange for the facility or else action will be taken against them as per the law.

SUKKUR: The commissioner Hyderabad said all efforts are being taken to remove encroachments from the irrigation land and the first phase was about to end. The commissioner said a successful anti-encroachment drive could not be possible without the coordination among all stakeholders but there needed to be some improvement at the Taluka level. Nominating the additional deputy commissioner-I as focal person, he said in order to achieve the maximum results, the anti-encroachment drive would be supervised by a high ranking officer of the district administration. In a meeting, the chief engineer irrigation, Haji Khan Jamali, briefed that the encroachments were being removed from the irrigation canals, including Wadhu Wah, Akram Wah, Phuleli Wah and other canals, which would be completed.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday took up an encroachment clearance drive to remove signboards and other commercial activities on footpaths and roads.
The drive, conducted by the Town Planning Wing of the Central Zone along with the Traffic Police removed many encroachments causing trouble at Uppal Main Road. The GHMC is planning to provide tree guards to protect the plants from animals in that area, said GHMC Authorities.
