Government revises rate of minimum wages for central sphere employees ANI | Updated: May 21, 2021 23:05 IST New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): At a time when the country is struggling with the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the government on Friday revised the rate of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) given to workers engaged in various scheduled employments in central sphere. An official release said that the Labour Ministry has notified and revised the rate of VDA with effect from April 1 this year. The VDA is revised on the basis of average Consumer Price Index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) a price index compiled by Labour Bureau.

According to Live Mint, a notification in this regard was issued on January 4. It is to be noted that Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Gangwar on December 31 announced that PF subscribers will start receiving 8.5 percent interest on their PF amount from the said day onwards.

In a tweet, Mr Modi said, it will further Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living. He said, the scheme will enable small shopkeepers to provide WiFi service. Prime Minister said, this will boost incomes as well as ensure the youth gets seamless internet connectivity. It will also strengthen the Digital India mission.
