Jerseyville police: Wanted man fatally shoots self during traffic stop Scott Cousins Hearst Illinois FacebookTwitterEmail JERSEYVILLE Police have identified a man who died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot Sunday when Jerseyville Police tried to pull him over for questioning in a St. Louis homicide. Police said they had been alerted that the driver of a vehicle with Missouri plates was being sought in the investigation and saw a car matching the description about 11 p.m. Sunday on Spruce Street. As officers tried to stop the car, they heard a single gunshot coming from the vehicle. The car rolled through a stop sign, went over a curb and then came to a stop, Jerseyville Police Chief Brad Blackorby said Tuesday.

Suspect in Jerseyville Shooting Identified

WBGZ Radio 4/14/2021 | By Mark Ellebracht - WBGZ Radio A man who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Jerseyville on Sunday night has been identified.  22-year-old Emmanuel Ross of St. Louis was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in St. Louis from the weekend and reportedly shot himself when police in Jerseyville attempted to make a traffic stop. Police in St. Louis were searching for Ross in connection with the death of 21-year-old Destiny Davenport earlier on Sunday.  Jerseyville Police attempted to make a traffic stop, on the vehicle with Missouri license plates, after learning it may be part of the St. Louis case.  Authorities say Ross shot himself while still inside the car and it rolled through an intersection along Spruce Street before stopping.  He was later airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis where he died.  St. Louis Police are conducting the investigation.

Search warrant leads to additional drug charges against North Liberty man

Hunter 04/10/21 A North Liberty man arrested on drug possession charges two months ago during a traffic stop led to a search warrant being executed on a residence where he was present this week. Police say their initial contact with 19-year-old Emmanuel Ross of Cattail Lane occurred on the afternoon of February 6 th. Allegedly, the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana, and during the search, he was reportedly found in possession of approximately 12 grams of loose marijuana in several small plastic bags, consistent with intent to sell and/or deliver. Ross also allegedly had a large amount of tens and twenties on him, four THC cartridges and several tobacco products. There were also three alcohol shooters in Ross’ glove compartment.

Underage Iowa City woman and man arrested after reportedly found with drugs and alcohol

02/08/21 An underage Iowa City woman was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after reportedly being found with a fictitious ID, alcohol, and marijuana. Her companion faces drug and alcohol charges as well. Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Boyrum and Highway 6 at around 3:45pm. 18-year-old Natalya Johnson was a passenger in the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted. Johnson’s purse reportedly contained a “Kinky” alcohol shooter, and a fictitious Illinois license showing her to be over 21. A small bag of loose marijuana was allegedly found underneath her seat. Johnson was charged with Possession of a Fictitious ID, Marijuana Possession, and Possession of Alcohol under Legal Age second offense. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail.
