JAY After both teams scored in the first inning, Mountain Valley spaced out a couple more runs to take down Spruce Mountain 3-1 in MVC softball action on Tuesday.
Ali Legere struck out six batters for the Falcons (1-2) in the win. Legere also tallied a run for Mountain Valley when Gabbie Gallant drove her in. Brooke Brown and Gracie Farnum each scored as well for Mountain Valley.

CUMBERLAND Lily Rawnsley lined a two-run double to fuel a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh on Tuesday as Greely edged Yarmouth in softball, 16-15.
Rawnsley finished with three hits for Greely (1-2), and Lindsay Eisenhart added a pair of hits, including a two-run single.
Yarmouth (0-1) took a 15-12 lead by scoring eight runs in the sixth inning.
POLAND 11, LAKE REGION 2: Emma Gagne’s five RBI powered the Knights (3-1) to a win over the Lakers (1-2) at Naples.
Fryeburg trailed 31-30 heading into the fourth, but outscored Poland 15-5 in the final quarter.
Emily Walker (six points) and Camden Jones (three) both hit 3-pointers in the fourth for the Raiders.
Emma Gagne paced Poland with 10 points, including a pair of 3s in the first quarter.
Emma Williams scored five of her seven during the second quarter when the Knights turned a 14-12 deficit into a 25-24 halftime lead. Thea Thornton and Kalie Paradis each added three of their five points apiece in the second.
FREEPORT 41, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 35: Rachel Wall scored 20 points as the Falcons erased an eight-point halftime deficit to beat the Patriots at Gray.
