CHS Group launches CHS Meetings & Events Industry Week

The CHS Group, in partnership with the wider West Midland meetings and events industry, has launched a celebratory week for event professionals. The week coincides with the inaugural CHS Birmingham Show on 26 October and will be made up of satellite networking, educational and entertainment sessions across the region. The week begins the day before the show at ICC Birmingham, which will see many event professionals from across the country in the city for the first time in over a year. “We’ve really started to see Birmingham as the spiritual home of the UK events industry, so it’s a fitting place for this, its official ‘return to work’ week,” said Emma Cartmell, founder and CEO of CHS Group. “This city not only has one of the longest histories of events activities, but it’s also got a great future in front of it. The timing is ideal now for us to not only launch a new show, but also create a festival of activity for our great industry.”

CHS reschedules Birmingham and Leeds shows

The CHS Group has confirmed that it will be rescheduling its 2021 shows. CHS Birmingham will now take place on 26 October 2021, while CHS Leeds has been moved to Spring 2022. Emma Cartmell said the decision has been “agonising” but insisted it was the only option to keep the events within a live environment. “Like many other event organisers looking to run live events at the moment, this has been another agonising decision. But, as a business, we are committed to live events and the return on investment they give to our exhibitors, as well as the value they give to our visitors,” said Cartmell.

Once upon a pandemic: Emma Cartmell | Conference News

Emma Cartmell, CEO of CHS group, on how self-care can make a real difference. Right now I am feeling fantastic! I ve made a very conscious effort to make sure I feel that way. It isn t because I m deluded and had my head stuck under a rock for the last eight months but I made the decision to spend the winter in Fuerteventura. I’m still working but this is giving me some time out after a crazy eight months. Early on in the year before this was declared a pandemic, we had one of our meet the buyer events. In the days before the event people started dropping like flies and I could just see everything falling apart. That affected me really badly. But we took the attitude that we would not be beaten and, for the people who couldn’t travel, we got them there on zoom. Even if we had to move laptops around tables, which is exactly what we did.
