Despite losing the opening set, McMichael came together and secured its spot in the third round of the 2A state playoffs. The Phoenix went on the road and took down Wheatmore in four sets. McMichael won 22-25, 29-27, 25-13, and 25-20 in round two, which sets up an away clash with Carrboro over the weekend. McMichael was getting the better of Wheatmore to start set one. The Phoenix jumped out to an 8-4 lead after senior outside hitter and Auburn University signee Cassie Tanton delivered an ace towards the far-left corner. Wheatmore managed to stay within a few points as the game rolled on.

Wheatmore captured yet another outright conference championship and remained unbeaten following its home win on Tuesday. The Warriors won in three sets 25-14, 25-19, and 25-18 versus rival Trinity to improve to 11-0 overall and 10-0 in PAC 7 2A Conference competition. For the last 10 years, Wheatmore has ended its conference slate as volleyball regular season champions (2011-present). Wheatmore outside hitter Carson Elliott reached 1,000 kills for her high school career against the Bulldogs. She had 18 kills, 15 digs, and eight service points in the win. Elliott was an inaugural HighSchoolOT All-West volleyball selection and currently has 134 kills to go along with 159 digs as a senior.
