This year’s Golden Globes ceremony, like so many other “live” events that have happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, was a multicity affair savvily produced and televised to most closely resemble the show from “before times.” In this odd and iffy era, we recognize and appreciate the effort.
The show’s famous crowd reaction shots which last night were grainy Zoom squares were a little awkward, but also refreshingly raw. Did you catch lovable smart-ass Bill Murray raising a full martini glass to his fellow nominee Daniel Kaluuya, winner of Best Supporting Actor? (NBC news producer Meg O’Donnell said it best when she tweeted, “Bill Murray with his martini is a whole mood.”)
