FFA at Timberland Leadership Camp

Brooke Arneson, FFA Chapter Reporter Twenty-four Sleepy Eye FFA members traveled to Sibley State Park, near New London, from June 15 to 18, for the Timberland Leadership Camp. Sleepy Eye FFA Advisors, Mary Hoffmann, McKenzie Cselovszki, and Katie Emmett, the Sleepy Eye Summer Intern, Taylor Peck, along with several members from the Tracy and Marshall FFA chapters also attended the camp. The Sleepy Eye Advisors, along with Region and State Officers, and the Summer Intern did all of the programming, activities, and food for the camp for the week. While at the leadership camp, FFA members got to experience many things including: get to know each other activities, a hike to Mount Tom, survival in the forest, escape room, archery, and sessions about goals and the various opportunities in FFA.

Two UMN Crookston Ag Ed students named Minnesota Teach Ag Ambassadors

Two UMN Crookston Ag Ed students named Minnesota Teach Ag Ambassadors Times Report Crookston Times     UMN Crookston Ag Education students were recently recognized by the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC), by being named 2021 “Minnesota Teach Ag Ambassadors.”     Britton Fuglseth and Faith Kowalke, both sophomores, were chosen along with four others from Minnesota institutions that train future agriculture teachers.     This program works to address the demand for agriculture teachers and was developed by Minnesota’s State Teach Ag Results (STAR) committee, which is coordinated by MAELC. STAR is a component of the National Teach Ag Campaign.     The purpose of the Minnesota Teach Ag Ambassador program is to utilize current collegiate students majoring in Agricultural Education - Teacher Licensure to represent the Agricultural Education profession and encourage others to teach agriculture.
