Hon Amber-Jade Sanderson BA MLA Minister for Environment; Climate Action; Commerce WA firefighters head to Canada to help battle wildfire disaster 26/07/2021 6:00 AM   The taskforce will be deployed for a total of seven weeks The firefighters bring a range of skills to help battle the challenging fire front A special taskforce of Western Australian firefighters will travel to Canada to help relieve exhausted crews battling the country s worst wildfires in recent years.   The 17 men and women - from as far as the Kimberley and Great Southern - travelled to Perth over the weekend to undertake final physical and medical examinations ahead of their trip.

McGowan Government delivers on election commitments for emergency services Volunteer firefighters and SES crews in seven communities will benefit $310,000 in funding will pay for items including new training equipment and facilities The McGowan Government has provided a $310,000 boost to support the State’s emergency services volunteers. The funding will benefit volunteer firefighters and State Emergency Service crews in areas to the north and east of Perth – Armadale, Burns Beach, Darling Range, Kalamunda, Maylands, Swan Hills and Wanneroo. The groups will receive support ranging from training equipment and upgraded facilities, to outdoor amenities and marquees. The funding includes: $30,000 for a training pad upgrade at Kalamunda Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service;
