He was married to his wife virginia for 47 years, and together they adopted three daughters. He was also the proud grandfather of two granddaughters who he adored. He was 72 years old. Fred and Judy Whitesel were married in 1959 in nebraska. They would spend the next 60 years together side by side. When it was time for them to go into a nursing home, they went together. There they both came down with coronavirus. Their son says judy was rushed to the hospital first after she developed symptoms. Fred remained at the nursing home. She died after a few days.
