Beginning with the 2024-25 season, high school wrestlers will be inbounds with only one point of contact of either wrestler inside or on the boundary line. This fundamental change to high school wrestling was one of six major changes impacting almost 30 rules recommended by the NFHS Wrestling Rul.
For the first time, states had the opportunity to choose the number of weight classes for competition. Iowa remained with 14 weights that include new division in the middle to upper weights.
The annual month-long celebration of high school athletics and activities – National High School Activities Month – begins next week for the NFHS and its 51 state high school associations. During this special time, the more than 19,800 high schools nationwide are encouraged to promote the values inherent in high school athletics and other activities such as speech, debate, music and theatre.
