Subscriber only A car towing a caravan has crashed into a ditch on the Bruce Highway at Roys Rd, sparking major traffic delays for Sunshine Coast motorists. The crash comes on top of congestion problems at the usual suspect spots from Beerburrum to Beerwah and Caboolture to Elimbah. A Queensland Police Services spokesman said the crash happened in the southbound lanes north of the Roys Rd interchange. A car towing a caravan reportedly swerved to miss a vehicle and went into the median strip, he said. There were no injuries.

Delays of more than 30 minutes are to be expected on the Bruce Highway between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, in both directions.
As holiday makers scramble to be with loved ones on Christmas Day, motorists have felt the pain of congestion throughout the southeast.
As of 11.30am, it took motorists an hour and a half from north Brisbane to Maroochydore – a trip that normally takes 50 minutes.
In the other direction, it took motorists an hour and 40 minutes.
According to Queensland Traffic’s website, the heaviest of the congestion was around the Caloundra Rd exit and between Morayfield and Elimbah.
Southeast Queensland motorists heading to Christmas Day festivities are in for a long wait for lunch after a crash on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane.
He said there appeared to be no serious injuries to those involved. A traffic camera image shows congestion building on the Bruce Hwy southbound, about 12:30pm
As of 12:30pm southbound traffic was backed up from the Glasshouse Mountains through to Morayfield.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads issued a warning for drivers heading towards Brisbane to proceed with caution.
Delays were also expected for northbound drivers passing through Caboolture and Elimbah as congestion builds. bruce highway crash
