Before the federal judge began at 9 30 this morning by 1030 representatives from San Francisco and Santa Clara County pleased by what they heard. In Santa Clara County. Requesting a suspension of President Donald Trump its executive order that threatens to withhold federal funds from socalled sanctuary cities. Targeted cities and counties that limit koorpgs with the federal immigration authorities. In the bay area San Francisco, san jose, santa cruz, alameda joined oakland as sanctuary cities requesting the court for nationwide preliminary injunctions to halt the order considered to be unconstitutional. Ambulance around 2 00. Anne makovec has more. 13 hours a lot of work, anne. Reporter yeah. Its been a long day for is guy and the whole neighborhood. This is a very slowmoving the hole is shored up and covered up. The rescue was ongoing for 12 hours yesterday ending at 2 a. M. Thats when this man was pulled from the ground next to a 10 foot sewer line. He had been working on that line when the trench collapsed on him at about 12 30 yesterday afternoon. Rescuers had to work to stabilize that trench so they could pull that man out safely. They gave him some pain medications and kept talking to him throughout the rescue. His head was about 7 feet below the ground and one of his feet lodged in mud. His coworkers spoke after the man was freed. So i want to say thank you one more time, everybody. Thank you.
