Six former winners participated in the “Rock The Roof” interval act:
Lenny Kuhr (De Troubadour, Netherlands 1969)
Teach-In with Getty Kaspers (Ding-a-dong, Netherlands 1975)
Sandra Kim (J’aime La Vie, Belgium 1986)
Helena Paparizou (My Number One, Greece 2005)
Lordi (Hard Rock Hallelujah, Finland 2006)
Måns Zelmerlöw (Heroes, Sweden 2015)
Paparizou sparkled and reminded everyone why she won the song contest in 2005 with “My Number One”.
Of course, Twitter ‘blew up’ with comments about her incredible performance, with some suggesting that the 2021 award belongs to her again.
“I can’t find any words to describe the feelings I have thanks to all of your messages!! Eurovision is passion, Eurovision is love. Eurovision, you’re “My Number One”,” the Greek singer posted.
Welcome back to our Eurovision coverage as seen through the eyes of a somewhat sleep-deprived Australian at 5am! This review is absolutely full of links to YouTube clips of the performances, and as always, some of them don’t work in the US. We have done our best to find versions that are visible on both sides of the globe, so if the first clip doesn’t work for you, scroll a little bit further, because the second one hopefully will!
For optimal Eurovision enjoyment, we recommend opening this post in a new tab, then opening all the links in subsequent tabs and savoring each one individually. It may take a while – but it will be WORTH IT! And if you need more music, check out the Eurovision 2020 post!
Eurovision chiefs issue update on Italy winners Maneskin after drugs claims David Bentley
The Eurovision Broadcasting Union, which organises the annual contest, says it is examining video footage that showed Damiano David lowering his head over a table in the green room.
The singer has volunteered to take a drugs test when he gets home.
Viewers questioned what they were seeing when Damiano was seen on camera bending over a table, with some suspecting he had been caught snorting cocaine.
One asked on Twitter: Did someone just do a line live on Eurovision telly?
But the singer insisted he was looking down after another band member broke a glass on the floor.
