Greek fans might not be celebrating a win at this year’s Eurovision contest, but it is fair to say the prize was claimed by a nation that desperately needed a morale boost after 2020.
At least that’s what Måneskin’s bass guitarist, Victoria de Angelis, said after her band was crowned the Grand Final winner.
“This is a message of hope after this hard year we’ve been through.”

In a COVID style grand final, where some contestants performed theirs acts remotely, Italy’s ‘Måneskin’ has been declared the winner of The Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Stefania Liberarakakis of Greece sang her way to tenth place, finishing with a total of 170 points while Elena Tsagrinou of Cyprus came 16th with 94 points.
Congratulations to Elena, and especially to Greece’s Stefania who, at just 18 years of age, brought Greece back into the top ten Eurovision finalists after an eight year hiatus.
Of the 26 finalists, Stefania was the only contestant to showcase her country’s flag, the Greek flag, on stage.

In a dramatic four-way finish between Italy, France, Switzerland and Malta, the television audience vote pushed Italy into an unassailable lead of 524 points, followed by France (499) and Switzerland (432), Iceland (378) in fourth place, Malta out of the race, and Ukraine (364) coming fifth.
