[applause] ladies and gentlemen, welcome to freedom day. I am Jeffrey Rosen, the president of this wonderful institution, the National Constitution center, which is the only institution in america that brings together citizens of different perspectives to unite around this beautiful document of human freedom and unites us, the u. S. Constitution. [applause] freedom day is the highlight of our constitutional programming here at the National Constitution center. It was launched on april 13, 2013 to further our Inspiring Mission and to encourage citizens around the country to celebrate, educate themselves and debate the meaning of freedom. What a way to acknowledge the visionary founder of freedom day than the women who conceived of this great celebration and made it a permanent part of the Constitution Center, and bert libby. The first todays brought together the top leaders in america to debate the meaning of issues ranging from the future of religious freedom to the future of free spee
Questions that may arise. And so with that, we want to begin some brief questioning by the members of the panel, and its my pleasure to recognize first representative bobby scott of virginia. Thank you, mr. Chairman. As i said in my hoping comments, most of the comments, virtually all of the comments are based on the mathematical curiosity that the Electoral College and popular vote may not agree. If you are counting electoral votes and thats what you count, like in the world series you can get outscored and still win. We heard a lot about the swing states. If one thing about a swing state is it assumes that you have in the bag enough to get close to 270 and so you are going to spend your time on the last couple of states. Just like if a president is trying to get a bill passed, when you get close to 218 in the house, a handful of members get all the attention. 51 senators, you get up to 46, 47, those last few senators will get all the attention. But that assumes that you have in the b
Im going to read a statement which i typically dont do at these but i want to make sure you full will you understand fully understand what i have to say on the issue that i think is mostly on our minds this morning. Obviously, any foreign breach of our cybercurt measures is serving, and i strongly condemn any such efforts. Prior to the election the director of National Intelligence released a statement saying that the russian government directed the recent compromises of emails from u. S. Persons and institutions. Including from u. S. Political organizations. That is what the Intelligence Community believes can be said in had unclassified remarks without risking sources and methods. Anything else, anything else is irresponsible likely illegal, and potentially for partisan political gain. I agree with senator schumer, chairman mccain, burr, and others simply cannot be a partisan issue. Let me remind all of you that the Senate Intelligence committee on which i and chairman of the Arm Ser
Reported that Saddam Hussein was hoarding yellow cake and weapons of destruction in iraq. Actors who came into possession of hacked files, are one step removed from the russian government. That is it. New york times also cited sources who refused to testify. Fbi has to make cases in court. They disagree with the leaks, they still say there is insubstantial evidence. Rush there is no evidence that russia hacked or tampered with the vote, russia cannot hack the vote, most of the voting is not done online if they could, why done trump win the popular vote . And fact that democrats knew about the alleged hacking a year ago, why is it president obama never held anyone accountable like he threatened to . My next guest wondering the same thing, asking why alleged hacking is suddenly a national crisis. Could it be because Hillary Clinton lost . President elect trump transition team, vice chair, representative Marcia Blackburn of tennessee, joining me now, good to have you. Good to be with you,

So 11 days, today is january 9th. January 20th, a new president takes over. When i say that, 11 days left in the obama administration, what do you think . I think there is still a lot of work weve got to get done in these 11 days. I think that im glad its just about that and not many more. And i think that thank god we did as much as we did until now. Because ill tell you what, i used to say this in the start of the second term. The beauty of being around for two terms is first of all it means you got reelected but second of all you also have perspective of how quickly those first four years went and the second go even faster. So you say 11 days, a say it gives me anxiety because we have some work to do but it gives me a lot of relief too. Rose what do you have to do . Ive got to move a lot of dooments t
