more election day vote. i would say history tells you it won t hold up that strong. i just pulled out to show it again. because now you re looking at 261,000 vote early lead. that s impressive. but as we watched the seesaw a month ago, they seesawed throughout the night. if you re the democrat you know your foundation is build a big lead with the early vote. that s what s happening. the question is what comes next. is it enough of one? go to cobb county because our own nick valencia is in marietta, georgia, in cobb county. and he s with a county election official. we can ask him some questions. nick, tell us what s going on there in cobb county. we re at the cobb county center of elections where those votes are starting to be tabulated already. and we want to bring in here the chairwoman of the cobb county board of elections. thank you so much for taking the time with cnn. we know you re extremely busy. you re actually working tonight. i know that you can t give us numbers from tod
the election day vote breaking 66.34 for hearse. that is two to one. does he need to do better then that? i think the model they needed. number, magic number they were looking at day of voting 58% or higher. are you with me on that? yes, sir. following along the bouncing ball. sean, i have something here for ya.
with 57% of the estimated votes in. we ll have a couple hours of this. a couple hundred votes hear, a couple thousand there. you watch it play out. and there is what he s working on. the percentage, the key thing is. what happens to the lead as the percentage of the election day vote starts to catch up? it s happening right now. we have the early vote. most of what we re seeing is the early vote. but we said it was around 12%, 13% is election day vote. i am certain in the couple minutes we ve been watching, even that percentage has gone up. which is why a, walker is getting closer. but as it gone up? and a month ago it started with the warnock lead. then walker took the lead. they see-sawed back and forth until warnock ended the night with a slight lead over walker. we don t know what will happenism would not be surprised if we had the see-saw back and forth, back and forth.
would need to be at the end of the flight. the challenge is we re not at the end of the night. if you re in the walker campaign knowing you re beginning to get more of the election day vote but you re still, this is still disproportionately early vote, you re happy with that. you re counting on today. that s what they were counting on. what we don t know and will take another couple hours to sort out. the warnock campaign was also aware, a shorter period to get mail ballots and turn them around. people say they requested them and they came late or didn t get them. was the warnock campaign successful of turning its vote out today? and we ll see that when we get the vote in the laemt suburbs in augusta, in savannah, where you have traditionally democratic areas. was the warnock campaign more competitive than the walker campaign wanted it to be today? that s the fascinating part. that s a race. we have a ways to go. what can you tell me in terms of where are we waiting for the most outs
the bigger the circle as you wait for more. the color is who is leading right now. no guarantee those leads stay. you see most of the vote is in atlanta in the suburbs. and at the moment, senator warnock is leading. if you re just looking at that, you think, okay, most of the outstanding vote is here. we re leading as a source of optimism. you re leading because they counted most of the early votes so far. we ll have to see what happens in the election day vote. republicans believe they will win and overwhelmingly in the election day vote. that s what they need. they need to win that. you see the pockets. we talked earlier about atlanta in the suburbs. then more to the urban areas. north of atlanta, that s where we are. more democratic votes. they re small circle in these small counties. but as we ve learned, they can add up. so if you come in and you turn that off and look at where we are. flair overed again. 31,000 votes. warnock only up 31,000 votes
