New date for Eden Valley Hospice 30th anniversary challenge

Eden Valley Hospice has announced a new date for its 30th anniversary challenge in Nepal and needs people to join up.
The hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbriaâs Childrenâs Hospice, said following the difficulties presented in 2020 and this year, its 12-day special event will now take place in October 2022.
Fundraisers will start at the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola River, and, over five days of trekking, ascend to Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri and enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Machapuchare.
Eleanor Viney, Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw fundraising manager, said:Â âAlong with completing an amazing challenge and providing a compassionate hand to hold for local people, fundraisers will also be able to give something back to the Nepal community.

Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice have received a limited number of places for both the Virgin Money London Marathon and Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon, with both events taking place on Sunday, October 3. The Durdar Road charity is now looking for people to take on the 26.2 mile challenge in its 30th anniversary year. Eleanor Viney, fundraising manager, said: “ For many people a marathon is a daunting challenge but by signing up you will be embarking on a journey knowing you are helping a person in our local community to receive the very best care, support and compassion when they need it the most.

The Carlisle based charity is now looking for fundraisers to take on the 26.2 mile challenge during their 30th Anniversary Year.

Lakes & Dales Co-op has selected Jigsaw Childrenâs Hospice as one of its charities of the year

Staff at Lakes & Dales Co-op stores aim to raise £200,000 for two children’s hospices in 2021.
The supermarket, which has branches in Keswick, Lazonby and Shap, has named Jigsaw, Cumbriaâs Childrenâs Hospice in Carlisle, and St Oswaldâs Childrenâs Hospice in Newcastle as its charity partners.
Staff are already planning in-store, virtual and sporting challenges to support the charities.
John Brodie, the chief executive of the Lakes and Dales Co-op parent company Scotmid Co-op, said: âThere are a lot of plans already in the pipeline, and despite the challenging times we all find ourselves in, we look forward to talking to members, customers and staff about how they can help us to raise as much money as possible for childrenâs hospices.”
