Pakistan: Black day observed on 3rd anniversary of unconstitutional merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ANI | Updated: Jun 01, 2021 16:49 IST Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [Pakistan], June 1 (ANI): A black day was observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the unnatural and unconstitutional merger of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) into the province. Scores of Khyber Qaumi Jirga (KQJ), an anti-merger body, supporters, mostly tribal elders and a handful of political workers demonstrated at the historic Bab-i-Khyber on Monday. The protest was staged on the completion of three years of the merger, Dawn reported. The FATA, which consisted of seven tribal agencies (districts) and six frontier regions, was merged with neighbouring province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018.

Scholarships announced for Balochistan, ex-FATA students

Islamabad May 23, 2021 Islamabad : The regulator for higher education in the country has announced postgraduate scholarships for the students of Balochistan as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa s merged tribal districts formerly known as FATA. According to the HEC, the grant will be awarded during the academic year 2021-22 in all subjects and disciplines. Totalling around Rs90,000, it will cover tuition fee, living allowance, book allowance, traveling allowance, and initial settlement allowance. The scholarship will be given away on merit basis. The candidates will have to sit the HEC aptitude test and score at least 50 per cent. Under the criteria, the applicants must have a Balochistan/merged districts domicile and 16 years of education with 60% marks and must be aged 35 years or below.

Sanjrani seeks report on tax exemption to ex-Fata traders

National April 21, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Tuesday sought a report from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law and the FBR on the alleged violation of tax exemption extended to traders and investors of the erstwhile FATA through a legislative process in the parliament. The report was sought by Sanjrani after a meeting of a 40-member delegation of industrialists from ex-FATA with him here at the Parliament House. The delegation told Sanjrani that after the merger of FATA in 2018, tax exemption was given for five years, but to the contrary, through various tactics, the steel and ghee industry was deprived of this exemption in the Finance Bill 2019.

Ex-FATA, Balochistan record highest fatalities in first quarter of 2021 By Hamid Khan Wazir ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Despite significant progress in reducing the number of fatalities during the last few years, the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) (now merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) recorded the highest number of fatalities which stands 67, followed by Balochistan with 48. The findings of the Quarter Security Report issued by the Center for Research and Security Studies here on Wednesday showed that Pakistan lost 196 persons in this first quarter of 2021, and another 42 were wounded. The erstwhile FATA recorded 67 fatalities, followed by Balochistan 48, KP 35, Sindh 26, Punjab 18, and Islamabad 2.
