Chester site earmarked for hotel to continue as temporary car park | Chester and District Standard

A key gateway site into Chester city centre which has the go-ahead for a 244-bed hotel will continue operating as a temporary car park for the foreseeable future. Approval has been given for the Black Diamond Street site to be used as a car park for more than 100 vehicles over an extended three-year period. Outline planning permission for the hotel development was granted by Cheshire West and Chester Council in July last year. However, Cheshire-based developer Morbaine says it is unlikely that work will start on the site for at least the next two years. The temporary car park has been in operation since 2016.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has given the go-ahead for WMS Properties to convert the former George Snape Chartered Accountants office into a HMO for up to five people. Planning officers confirmed last summer that planning approval would not be required to convert the building into a residential property, but this work has not yet taken place. Winsford Town Council objected to the latest proposal for the HMO, raising concerns that it would be an overdevelopment of a residential property with a lack of car parking spaces, while it would also add pressure on infrastructure and resources.

Chester village doggy day care plan gets the go-ahead | Chester and District Standard

PLANS to create a day care facility for dogs in a Chester village have been given the green light. The change of use application for the existing Footgolf building at Mollington Grange Business Park in Parkgate Road has been approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council on a 12-month trial basis. As part of the conditions for granting planning permission, there should not be more than eight dogs on the site at any one time. The facility can only open between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. The council says limiting planning consent to a 12-month period will enable it to monitor the impact of any noise on neighbouring amenities, including an adjoining care home.

Green light to turn former Frodsham bank into a restaurant | Chester and District Standard

PLANS to turn a vacant bank building into a restaurant have been given the go-ahead. The change of use application for the former HSBC premises on Main Street, Frodsham, was approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council yesterday. The new venture – Main Street Kitchen – will create eight jobs, with three full-time roles and five part-time positions. The applicant Abelines Geldenhuys has also been given the green light for a two-bedroom flat on the first floor as part of the scheme. Main Street Kitchen s opening hours will be 8am until 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am until 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
