“It’s so nice to see people out, said Munira Jamil. My niece is treating me to this wonderful breakfast because my son is not around. It was a very pleasant surprise this morning.”
Saleh added that it was a big change from last year when she stayed home. It’s Mother’s Day and people are taking time to celebrate moms. This year, pandemic related restrictions have eased and vaccines are available. Christie Smith Reports.
“Mother’s Day might be the best day that we have,” said Arash Ghasemi of Main Street Kitchen and Bar.
It s a sigh of relief as business owners watched other Bay Area counties move into the red tier weeks ago.
“It gives us more chance to start paying our bills,” Ghaseni added. “It’s so hard when it rains to bring people inside is a good thing for us.”
Some Bay Area customers called ahead as soon as they heard the news. “It feels like it’s the first step in the right direction, getting back to normal and it feels great. I’m excited,” said Danville resident Taylor Wyrsch.
Many Bay Area restaurants’ tables and chairs are set up for social distancing, all the protocols in place.

CONTRA COSTA, Cali. - A mass administration of COVID-19 vaccines is opening the doors for reopenings in two Bay Area counties; Contra Costa and Sonoma.
In Contra Costa county, back of the house chefs are the only people allowed indoors in restaurants. The Main Street Kitchen in Walnut Creek hasn t allowed customers inside since December, We are super excited and thrilled, especially since tomorrow is supposed to rain, said Arash Ghasemi, the restaurant s owner.
PLANS to turn a vacant bank building into a restaurant have been given the go-ahead. The change of use application for the former HSBC premises on Main Street, Frodsham, was approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council yesterday. The new venture – Main Street Kitchen – will create eight jobs, with three full-time roles and five part-time positions. The applicant Abelines Geldenhuys has also been given the green light for a two-bedroom flat on the first floor as part of the scheme. Main Street Kitchen s opening hours will be 8am until 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am until 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
