An intense manhunt was underway in Virginia on Thursday after a colonel in the U.S. Army and his veteran wife were both found fatally shot outside their Virginia home.

A husband-and-wife military couple was shot and killed outside their Fairfax County Virginia home on Wednesday, police reported, and now a search is underway to find the suspect or suspects responsible.
Fairfax police confirmed during an evening press conference the identities of the victims as well as giving details about the vehicle they were looking for in connection to the double homicide.
The victims were identified as Brenda McDaniel, 63, and Edward McDaniel Jr., 55, who were both former military physicians. Edward McDaniel was an active army colonel, while Brenda McDaniel was retired from the service, Fox 5 DC reported.

Two men have been charged in connection with the shooting and killing of a husband and wife both of whom had obtained the rank of colonel in the Army in the front yard of their home in Springfield, Fairfax County police said Thursday.
D’Angelo Strand, 19, and Ronnie Keandre Marshall, 20, were taken into custody on two counts each of second-degree murder and firearms violations Thursday, following a manhunt that stretched across Fairfax County and the District of Columbia area.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. Fairfax County Police are asking people to help them find a car they believe is key in the investigation of the fatal shooting of a husband and wife on Wednesday morning.
Fairfax County police identified the victims as Edward McDaniel Jr., 55, and Brenda McDaniel, 63, both of Springfield. Both were military doctors, and Edward McDaniel was still active with the Army as a colonel.
The McDaniels were “viciously shot and killed up close at point-blank range,” Police Chief Kevin Davis said. Investigators believe the deaths are connected to a dispute or burglary at the house just two days earlier, police said.
