Nonprofit Spotlight: Thibodaux s Circle of H.O.P.E.
Thibodaux faith-based charity Circle of H.O.P.E. has a simple but far-reaching mission: To provide resources for children and adults that promote the development of the skills necessary to become productive citizens.
Located at 722 St. Charles St., the group s programs include educational assistance and outreach services, annual community luncheons, Christmas quilts for the elderly, a Thanksgiving feeding for the community, a breast cancer awareness and assistance program and domestic violence outreach services.
The Courier and Daily Comet asked the group s Executive Director Constance Johnson to tell us about its activities. Edited answers to our questions follow.
Nonprofit Spotlight: Southeast Louisiana Legal Services works to bring justice to all
Those in need of the services of a lawyer in Terrebonne, Lafourche and Assumption parishes can get the help they need at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services.
The group s stated mission is to achieve justice and improve the lives of low-income people through civil legal aid, policy advocacy and community legal education.
The Courier and Daily Comet asked Laura Tuggle, executive director of the group, to tell us about her organization. These are the edited answers to our questions.
What specific services do you provide?
Our Houma office serves Assumption, Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes providing free legal representation in civil legal matters to eligible low-income people living in those parishes. We have limited special grants and may be able to serve the legal needs of people aged 60 or older even if they are not low-income.
