An old bridge constructed in the early 90s in the Chandani Chowk area in Pune was demolished through a controlled implosion in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.
The razing of the bridge was part of an ambitious Chandni Chowk development project that is aimed at improving the traffic situation at the key junction.
About 600 kg of explosives were used to demolish the bridge on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway (NH4) in the Chandani Chowk area at 1 a.m. The planned demolition of the bridge piqued the interest of many locals.
