REGIONAL The number of vaccinations for COVID-19 being administered appears to have leveled off in the six counties of far southwest Minnesota, but new cases continue to crop up in each county.
Friday morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health noted five new cases of the virus in Pipestone County, four in Murray County and two new cases each in Cottonwood, Jackson, Nobles and Rock counties. These were among 1,877 new cases reported statewide during the 24-hour reporting period that ended at 4 p.m. Thursday.

REGIONAL Jackson County recorded its 11th death due to complications from COVID-19, according to this morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health. The individual was aged 85 to 89. No other information is available.
The death was one of 15 recorded during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Eight of the individuals lived in private residences, while seven were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
Minnesota’s death toll from the virus now stands at 7,128, including 4,365 residents of long-term care facilities.
Statewide, 1,921 new cases were reported in the one-day period, including six new cases in Nobles County, five in Rock County and three each in Cottonwood and Pipestone counties. No new cases were recorded in Jackson and Murray counties.

REGIONAL Nobles County recorded f4 new cases of COVID-19 during the 24-hour reporting period that ended at 4 p.m. Tuesday, while Cottonwood County reported seven new cases and Pipestone County added six new cases. Murray County reported four additional cases of the novel coronavirus, Rock County had three new cases and Jackson County had one.
They were among 1,514 new cases of the virus reported during the one-day period, according to a Wednesday morning update from the Minnesota Department of Health.
The cumulative total of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Minnesota is 572,025 (positive and antigen tests), with 550,992 beyond the 10-day isolation period. Thus far, 41,190 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the virus.

REGIONAL Minnesota recorded no new COVID-related deaths during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Sunday. Meanwhile, there were another 1,197 new cases of the virus reported, according to this morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health.
Among the new cases were two in Murray County, and one each in Pipestone and Rock counties.
The cumulative total of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Minnesota now stands at 569,440 (positive and antigen tests), with 547,021 beyond the 10-day isolation period. Thus far, 41,043 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the virus.
