Two more SW Minnesota residents die as a result of COVID-19

New cases of novel coronavirus remain low 11:24 am, Jan. 31, 2021 × REGIONAL Two more southwest Minnesota individuals have died as a result of COVID-19, according to information released Sunday morning in the Minnesota Department of Health s daily update. A Pipestone County individual between the ages of 70 and 74 died as a result of the novel coronavirus, as did a Murray County individual between the ages of 75 and 79. No other information is available. The Minnesota Department of Health recorded 13 new deaths during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Saturday, including six individuals who resided in private residences and seven who were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. The death toll from the virus in Minnesota now stands at 6,200, including 3,929 residents of long-term care facilities.

Nobles, three other area counties each add two COVID-19 cases

Nobles County reports four new cases of COVID-19

Among the 18 deaths were eight individuals who resided in private residences and 10 who were residents of a long-term care or assisted living facilities. The death toll from the virus in Minnesota now stands at 6,124, including 3,887 residents of long-term care facilities. The number of new COVID-19 cases in the area remained low, with Nobles County recording four new positive or probable tests, followed by Cottonwood, Jackson and Murray counties with three new cases each, and Pipestone and Rock counties reporting two new cases each during the 24-hour period.
