Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 28 (PTI) The Congress in Kerala on Sunday alleged terrible mismanagement of the Lok Sabha polls held in the state on April 26 and urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to initiate a comprehensive inquiry into it.
Election duty officials in Bengaluru were unable to cast their votes in the recent election, despite reminders and due process. Some officials received ballot papers late or not at all, leading to concerns about their voting rights. Election Commission officials stated that complaints would be investigated to ensure fair treatment of all officials involved in election duty.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are showing a trend of decreasing voter enthusiasm, with Phase 2 turnout lower than in 2019. Despite crossing 63.5% by 10 pm, the final figure is expected to fall well below 69.39% recorded in 2019. With 191 constituencies already polled, concerns arise over this trend continuing in the remaining phases. Factors like impending heat waves and historical turnout trends suggest India may not surpass the 67% record high seen in 2019, possibly reverting to pre-2019 levels.
