The caretaker chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State chapter, Chief Fred Udeogu, on Monday accused the police and soldiers of connivance with the sacked former chairman of the party, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi to inflict injuries on their members while trying to access party secretariat located along Enugu/Abakaliki expressway.
The members of Udeogu’s led PDP in the State had gone to take over the Secretariat following a court judgement that restrained Barr Onyekachi Nwebonyi’s-led factional state executive from parading themselves as the officials of the Party.
But on getting into the premises of the party’s secretariat, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and a team of soldiers came and dispersed them.

Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State experienced pandemonium on Monday as a faction of the People’s Democratic Party and the police clashed at the party secretariat.
According to a report by The Nation, the Fred Udogu-led faction of the party attempted to take over the secretariat which has been under lock for a while due to the rise of different factions after the state governor, David Umahi decamped to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The National Executive of the PDP had in November last year, after the governor’s defection, dissolved the state Executives of the party including the State Working Committee led by Onyekachi Nwebonyi.
