Its really affecting me personally because my muscles cant really handle it. Rose central iowa shelter and services in des moines took in about 200 people during the storm. Since this shelter doesnt turn anyone away, about 50 people slept in the overflow room without a bed. As winter goes on and the temperature drops, more people are going to come in. So the need becomes greater obviously. Rose the shelter relies largely on donations. Theres a constant need for pantry items to stock the kitchen, blankets to cover the beds, and warm clothes to offer. We just cant keep enough coats, enough gloves, enough hats. Once they come in, theyre gone like that. Rose donations and services, people say theyre thankful to receive and to call home for the night. This place is a blessing for people who have nothing.
