WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona County Health and Human Services will offer the one-shot Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at a clinic on Thursday.
The clinic runs from 6-7 p.m. at the East End Rec Center. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine was paused for 10 days while federal health officials investigated six cases of blood clots out of the 6.8 million shots that were distributed.
Officials concluded the benefits of the J&J vaccine outweigh the risks.
“We have complete confidence that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is safe,” said Winona County Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge.
Local officials say have not received reports of blood clots from any of the 100 residents who got the Johnson and Johnson shot earlier this year. Tatge said local vaccine providers will no longer call people to tell them it’s their turn for a shot.
