ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Albany Area Primary Health Care (AAPHC) has launched a major mass vaccination program in Southwest Georgia.
As of Thursday, AAPHC has given more than 4,200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to its patients and community members since January.
AAPHC hosted a vaccination event at Monroe High School’s gymnasium on Saturday. Also, the East Albany location is currently vaccinating patients and community members who fall within the Phase 1A+ tier. This center is open five days a week and appointments are available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Across Dougherty and Lee counties, voters took advantage of in-person voting.
âThereâs a lot of agreements and disagreements with voting in person or voting on an absentee ballot. So when you step in, they ask you for certain things. I feel like thatâs more important than writing on a ballot and sending it. So thatâs why in-person voting, whether itâs voting early or voting today is essential. And hopefully, we can get back to that line of work,â said Jesse Reed, a Lee county voter.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The second day of the Albany Police Departmentâs (APD) âOperation Blue Santaâ was a success.
The annual program began this year at the Walmart in East Albany on Tuesday.
APD officers accompanied 50 children throughout the store with shopping carts and gifted them with dozens of toys.
Police said the event is all about interacting with children.
They want children to know they are our future and law enforcement are their friends.
