confidence, those numbers are not great right now. what are the trends you guys look at to see where we re going? i think we look at the confidence numbers and those don t reflect positively, but oddly enough, i ll say it over and over again, the earnings numbers, ceos, their companies are not falling off a cliff the way you d expect them to. the question then becomes what are they doing with the earnings? and unfortunately they re not turning around and hiring more people or investing in new, you know, plants and equipment. what they re doing is either hoarding the cash or buying back their stock or doing something that doesn t feel like it s necessarily helping the economy. that s a function of the fact we don t have the demand and that goes back to the confidence issue, it goes back to the issue of what s going on in washington and everything that s overhanging the whole conversation that we keep having. add to that the housing situation. what trends are you seeing now? is it pi
