stream of economic indicators pointing in the wrong direction. bill: stuart, on the surface the numbers say what? reporter: the numbers say clearly this is a weak economy. a major disappointment for the obama administration. this year 2011 the economy has taken a notable turn south. the american economy is growing at a less than 2% rate. the unemployment, jobless numbers extremely disappointing. over 400,000 new claims in a week. earlier this week we had bad numbers on the housing market. you add it up, this is an extremely weak economy. bill: have you seen good news this week? reporter: gas prices are down a little. most drivers are still paying $4 a gallon for regular. but the big picture. this is a weak economy. bill: these big companies are producing more than they ever have. earnings are up but they are not hiring people. reporter: they are earning their profits the for tune 500 countries make half their money and more overseas where the economics are growing and
