Waynesboro Girl Scout Troop creates birthday bags to help families in need throw a party for a child

Waynesboro Record Herald Families in need will be able to throw a birthday party for their child, thanks to the generosity of a local Girl Scout troop. Troop 80163 of Waynesboro donated more than 20 birthday bags to Waynesboro Community and Human Services. Two will be raffled off each month on the Waynesboro Community and Human Services Facebook page. That s where families can put their name in the running. Waynesboro Community and Human Services will select one boy and one girl up to 12 years old   to receive a bag. The party bags include cake decorations, icing, tablecloths, banners, balloons and streamers.  Parents are not always able to celebrate their children’s birthdays with a special cake or party decorations because of their limited resources, Denise Esser, executive director of Waynesboro Community and Human Services, said in an email.  I am thrilled that we can offer these birthday party bags to help.

Merlin Award: Magician at Magic and Wonder wins national award

Myers graduated from Shalom Christian Academy, then went to Bryan College in Tennessee. From there, he started to perform more and more, eventually doing 150 shows a year across the country. In 2016, he made his way to Lancaster County, setting up his production in Bird-in-hand. Eventually, he would outgrow that space, settling in the former Rainbow Comedy Playhouse in Paradise in January 2020. According to Myers, people who go and see the show are going to see a lot more than just magic. “The show is a variety show, Myers said.  When the audience comes and experiences Magic and Wonder, they’re going to see big illusions. They’re also going to see hilarious comedy. They’re also going to experience dynamic circus art.”

My Neighbor s Bounty food pantry opens in Mercersburg

The Mercersburg community now has a place close to home for free supplies. My Neighbor s Bounty opened its doors Friday. Located off of Church Hill Road, it s open every Friday from noon to 7 p.m. We wanted it so people can come here every week and pick what they want and not just get a box like at a food drop, said Amanda Woodring, chair of the organization.  No application, no income requirements, no judgment, nothing like that. Just a place to come if they re hungry. The shelves at the pantry have been stocked with everything from different pastas, sauces, rice, produce, baking ingredients, breakfast food and many more. On the shelves were also various household items like cleaning supplies, hygiene products and baby products.
