Hospice - Josephine Gunnee spent her final days in St Helena Hospice HAVING conversations about dying, death and bereavement are be no means easy - but they are ever so important. This is the message from two sisters who know first-hand the importance of having conversations about end of life and making choices matter, as they did with their mum Josephine Gunnee. With this week marking Dying Matters Awareness Week sisters Linda Buckley, from Leigh on Sea, and Alison Thorpe, from Colchester, decided to share their experiences of why we should talk about dying. Their mum Josephine had a positive outlook on life, grasping every opportunity, and being diagnosed with a rare cancer did not stop her from going out with friends and spending time with her family.

Dying Matters: Cancer Relief became part of our family 14th May 2021
Cancer Relief Gibraltar is marking Dying Matters this week, a Hospice UK-led initiative that helps open up the conversation on death, dying and bereavement.
As part of this awareness campaign, the charity is sharing testimonials from its members of staff and service users on the hospice service it offers. Today’s testimonial is Joe’s story.
Each day Chronicle readers have had the opportunity to learn more about the service and the services available when faced with a terminal illness.
The charity is also running a survey on the community’s attitudes towards death which is available on: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K5YNPCV
