According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, every day, about 28 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes. That s one person every 52 minutes.
When you consider the wave of panic that COVID 19 has brought on, it makes you wonder why the vast numbers of deaths brought about by drunk driving haven t caused the same pandemic style environment.
Driving while impaired is just dumb. And obviously it is against the law. And the Caddo Sheriff s Department is doing what they can to keep these drivers off the road.

Mallory Lammi, Orr, test refusal in the 3rd degree, local confinement 1 year, stay 361 days for 2 years, credit for time served 4 days, supervised probation 2 years, total fines/fees, $690.
Tori Pederson, Chisholm, 3rd degree DWI-operate motor vehicle, alcohol concentration .08 within 2 hours, local confinement 1 year, stay 1 year for 2 years, supervised probation 2 years, total fines/fees, $1,015.

It s Saint Patrick s Day, and State Police will be stepping up patrols to make sure you get to and from your party safely.
Their latest crackdown on drunk drivers is already underway and will last through this Sunday.
In addition to getting people under the influence of drugs or alcohol off the roads, Troopers are also going to target distracted drivers.
During last year s Saint Patrick s Day patrols, 203 people were arrested for DWI and over 12,000 total tickets were issued.
Virginia State Police said the suspect, identified as Cooper Plum, moved from the far right lane in his 2007 Hyundai Entourage and swerved to the far left lane, where he rear-ended a 2013 Hyundai Elantra.

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - Exclusive video obtained from Arkansas State Police show what happened the night a Batesville police officer was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
According to documents obtained from ASP, a trooper stopped 34-year-old Rick Anthony King of Batesville just after 11 p.m. Friday, March 12, on U.S. Highway 167.
King was southbound in a 2018 silver Jeep Wrangler, driving 64 miles per hour in a 35 mph speed zone, the citation stated.
