Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced Monday that Douglas Thompson, 56, of Jackson, was sentenced to five years in State Prison as a result of a previously entered guilty plea to Death By Auto in a 2019 crash that later killed a Toms River man.
Billhimer said the sentence is subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act, meaning that Thompson will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his prison sentence before he may be considered for parole eligibility.
Thompson’s driving privileges will be suspended for life as well in connection with his sentence for Death by Auto.

Endicott Man Arrested for DWI Twice in Three-Hour Period
21-year-old Ala Alguhem of Endicott first was arrested around 11 p.m. February 16.
According to a news release, a trooper spotted a car stuck in a snowbank on East Main Street in Endwell shortly after a hit-and-run crash had occurred in Endicott.
Alguhem was charged with DWI, issued appearance tickets for Union town court and turned over to a sober third party.
Around 2 a.m. February 17, Alguhem was arrested again after troopers spotted a speeding vehicle on North Street in Endicott. It was the same car Alguhem had been driving earlier.
Alguhem again was charged with DWI. He was transported to the Broome County public safety building for processing.
