MADISON, Wis. The 115th Fighter Wing is thanking all of the organizations that have helped in recent weeks following the fatal crash of an F-16 jet.
Earlier this week, the Wisconsin National Guard leadership team flew to the Upper Peninsula to check on the team working at the crash site. In a Facebook post, the 115th Fighter Wing says a bald eagle flew overhead just before the helicopters landed.
The Fighter Wing says the eagle struck them as a sign that Capt. Durwood “Hawk” Jones, who died in the crash, was watching over them. The 37-year-old left behind a wife and two young children.
