Bengal assembly elections 2021: Modi blames Trinamul for lack of jobs and Bengal s industrial rot

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hit out at one of the weakest links in the Trinamul’s armour, the lack of industry and employment opportunities in Bengal, tying it directly with  anti-land acquisition movements led by Mamata Banerjee during her days in the Opposition. “Old industry is shut. The road for building new industry is also closed. The opportunities for doing business and generating employment is also closed. Once people from different parts of the country would come to work in the factories of Bengal. Now the youth of Bengal are going elsewhere,” said Modi addressing an election campaign meeting in Hooghly’s Tarakeswar, about 25 km from Singur, which was once floated as the destination for industrial revival of the state.

West Bengal: BJP youth leader Pamela Goswami s police custody extended till March 18 Facebook West Bengal BJP youth wing leader Pamela Goswami, who was nabbed on February 19 for allegedly possessing cocaine in her car, was sent to police custody till February 25. It was later extended till March 4. Now, an NDPS court in Kolkata has further extended her police custody till March 18. Goswami was earlier arrested along with her associate Prabir Kumar Dey. They were allegedly carrying 100-gram cocaine worth Rs 10 lakh from south Kolkata s posh New Alipore area. In the court, Goswami however alleged that she was framed as part of a conspiracy .
