The Bharatiya Tribal Party will withdraw its support to the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, party founder Chhotubhai Vasava announced on Friday, alleging betrayal by the Congress in the local body elections.
The possible exit of the BTP, which has two legislators, will not affect the stability of the state government. In the 200-member House, the Congress has 105 MLAs, apart from the support of 13 Independents.

The joint move by Congress and BJP reveals the parties’ concern that BTP has a stronghold amid tribals, especially south Rajasthan.
Bhartiya Tribal Party- a two MLA party in Rajasthan has threatened to withdraw support from the Congress government, alleging betrayal by its senior ally.
The BTP’s exit from the Congress party will not affect the state government s majority, however, what is significant is how rivals Congress and BJP joined hands to keep the party from taking charge of a district-level board.

Jaipur:
A party with two MLAs has threatened to withdraw support from the Congress government in Rajasthan, alleging betrayal by its senior ally. While the Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP) s possible exit will not affect the state government s majority, what is significant is how rivals Congress and BJP joined hands to keep the tiny party from taking charge of a district-level board.
The BTP s resentment revolves around recent polls to elect members to local bodies at the district and village levels.
The party won 13 members in the Dungarpur Zila (district) Parishad but could not form the 27-member board. The majority is 14. The Congress should have backed it, the BTP says.

Jaipur, Dec 11 : : Giving a major shock to the ruling Congress party in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Tribal Party on Friday announced it is withdrawing support to the government.
Talking to IANS, BTP MLA Rajkumar Rout said, It was quite surprising to see the Congress supporting the BJP to defeat the BTP in Dungarpur Zila parishad polls. We are elected representatives and people in our constituency are now questioning us over why should we support Congress who can go to any level to mark its victory. Hence, it becomes our moral responsibility to take a final call, he said.
Meanwhile, following the good show in Zila Pramukh member elections earlier this week, the BJP on Thursday elected Zila Pramukhs to 12 Zila Parishads and Congress had to contend with five Zila Pramukhs.
In the results declared Tuesday, of the 636 zila parishad member posts across 21 districts, the BJP won 353 and the Congress won 252. In Jhalawar, BJP has won 19 out of 27 Zila Parishad seats – well past the majority mark – but voting for its Zila Pramukh post will be held Friday on account of repolling in a booth.
Apart from Dungarpur, Independents won in Ajmer and Bundi. In Ajmer, despite having a clear majority, BJP had to suffer a shock as its rebel Sushil Kanwar defeated the BJP candidate by 14 votes – with the help of Congress.
