Trader killed, 29 cows raided in Duk County attacks
A cattle trader was killed and 29 cows raided in two separate attacks carried out by a group of armed men in Duk County of Jonglei State on Sunday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Monday, Elijah Manyok Ayiei, the acting Duk County commissioner, said, “In the first incident, 11 cows belonging to a person called Thon Ding Duot was stolen while at a grazing area on the outskirts of the Pobokoi area, Duk Padiet town.
He added, On the same day, a cattle trader identified as Atem Kuer Atem was intercepted with his 18 cows between the areas of Pagak and Padiet. The criminals killed the trader and took his cows.”
Gunmen abduct 3 children in Uror County
A group of armed men abducted three boys aged between 8 and 9 in Uror County of Jonglei State on Tuesday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, Mamur Gatluak, a lawmaker representing Uror County in the state legislative assembly said, “Those four boys were fishing in a river in the Motot area in the outskirts of Yuai town. But around 10 am they were captured by armed youth suspected to be from the Pibor area. Three boys, aged between 8 and 9, were taken by the assailants but the one aged 11 escaped unhurt.”
He pointed out that the local youth are searching the bushes to recover the abducted boys.
Child killed, 2 boys abducted in Jonglei road ambush
An eight-month-old baby girl was killed and two of her brothers, aged 13 and 15, were abducted by unknown gunmen in Duk County of Jonglei state on Saturday.
According to authorities, the children s mother was freed unhurt during the incident.
“When floods started a big population of the Bor West area was displaced to the Pogok area. So, on Saturday evening, a woman with a baby strapped on her back and two of her sons left to collect grains from her farm in the Charakou area, said Deng Riak, the county executive director. At midday, she was intercepted by criminals who abducted them. But the criminals later killed the baby, released her mom unhurt in the Makol-Cuei area, and took the two boys.”
Duk Padiet hit by severe drug shortage
A severe drug shortage has hit the Duk Padiet area in Duk County of Jonglei State, health authorities and residents have said.
Dr. Peter Mathiang, a clinical officer at the Padiet Primary Health Care Center (PPHCC), told Radio Tamazuj Saturday that the county has seen a surge in the cases of malaria and respiratory infections amidst drug shortage.
“On a daily basis, we receive between 180 to 250 patients. The majority of them are children with malaria, diarrhea, and respiratory problems. There are no drugs here at the facility. This problem started last month so now we are unable to provide treatment,“
Woman killed, two men injured in Jonglei attacks

A woman was killed, two men injured and at least 59 herds of cattle raided in separate attacks in parts of Jonglei state over the weekend, authorities have said.
“On 26 December in the Dengjok area, a Payam of Akobo County, 12 cows were stolen while grazing, while 22 cattle were also taken by the same group in the Buong area. On the same day, in Pathai Village of Uror County, some locals were attacked while heading to Ayod, leaving a woman dead and two men injured,” John Daniel Bol, an SPLM-IO spokesperson in the greater Lou area, told Radio Tamazuj Monday.
