TUNKHANNOCK â Phillip Donald Walters, found guilty by a jury in October of murdering his girlfriend and dumping her body in the river, will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Senior Judge Dudley Anderson handed down the life sentence Thursday after listening virtually on Zoom to family members of the victim and defendant.
Walters, 33, of Mill City, was convicted of killing Haley Lorenzen in his home nearly two years ago and dumping her body in the Susquehanna River at Falls.
He is not eligible for parole.
âYouâre not an animal,â Lorenzenâs mother, Deanna Hills, said on Zoom to Walters before the judgeâs decision. âAnimals donât kill. Youâre a self-absorbed manipulative monster who enjoys taking advantage of women you can control.â

TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. It s been almost two years since Haley Lorenzen went missing from her then-boyfriend Phillip Walters Mill City home.
In October, a jury found Walters guilty of murdering Lorenzen and dumping her body in the Susquehanna River.
Her body was found seven months after being thrown in the river.
Lorenzen s family attended the sentencing via Zoom. During the sentencing, Walters attorney filed a motion to not allow any victim impact statements by Lorenzen s family to be allowed, but Judge Dudley Anderson overruled.
