Four neighborhood-based nonprofits that have been working to beautify their part of Atlantic City have each been awarded about $1 million toward that goal. Here s what the four groups have said they can accomplish with the funding:
If all goes well for companies working with the Atlantic County Economic Alliance, there will soon be hotels, youth sporting facilities and a bustling cargo operation in and around Atlantic City International Airport.
"Ducktown: An Atlantic City Immigration Story" opened Wednesday and will run through March 31. It celebrates the Atlantic City neighborhood through the stories of past and present immigrants. There will be an opening reception at 5 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University.
As the Ducktown neighborhood has evolved from its 1900s reputation as "Atlantic City s Little Italy" to one of the most diverse sections of the city, so have the types of businesses that have been opening up in the area between Mississippi and Texas avenues — in particular, Latino businesses.
