Crash that killed a 16yearold. Kevin sand was heading to Lincoln High School friday morning when a speeding suv rearended his familys mini van. This afternoon, we learned the driver of the suv has been booked on a charge of vehicle manslaughter, not involving drugs or alcohol, with gross negligence. Earlier this morning, about 20 of kevins friends came to the corner where he died to pay respects. Kevin was a member of the junior rotc drum corp at lincoln high. His friends say the group cancelled their practice yesterday because of kevins death. He would always have a smile on his fastece. Kevins mother and sister were seriously injured. Three other people were also hurt, the driving of the speeding suv suffered minor injuries, along with the vehicle charges he has also been cited for several vehicle code violations.
