DETROIT – The veteran police official who was suddenly fired by the City of Ecorse is not leaving the position quietly.
Dr. Joseph Thomas, the former Ecorse police chief is an expert in finding public corruption. He was allegedly fired after blowing the whistle on some serious allegations.
Dr. Thomas actually was not in town when the Ecorse City Council voted to fire him.

NEW CANAAN, Conn. A 77-year-old man was arrested Thursday after police said an accidental discharge of a firearm killed his wife.
Police said they responded to a home on Down River Road after receiving a call of an accidental shooting.
The caller was 77-year-old Albert Kokoth and police said it was his wife Margret Kokoth, who died as a result of a gunshot. Albert Kokoth was arrested after a subsequent investigation by officers.
He was charged with assault in the second degree, assault in the second degree with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to be in court on May 7.

DETROIT – It’s going to be another busy orange barrel season in Wayne County.
Construction season is underway in Michigan’s largest county, and work will continue on several projects into the late fall months.
The county will invest over $100M into its infrastructure this construction season. Improvements will consist of over 25 road construction projects and 8 bridge capital improvement projects and nearly 70 pavement improvement projects covering primary and local roads.
In addition to their road and bridge projects, the county will also invest over $5M into improving county-owned parks. Some of these improvements include: continued renovations to exhibits at Nankin Mills, the installation of an outdoor fitness gym and senior exercise equipment at Bell Creek Park and upgrades to their favored Dog Park. Residents were forced out of their home, including 20-year-old Mykela Lane.
“It was really sad for me to even see my building on fire,” she said. “I just saw smoke come out of my window.”

Lane was enrolled in classes at Wayne County Community College to be a nurse, and inside her apartment was everything she needed for school.
“I’ve been wanting to be a nurse since elementary,” she said. “I worked so hard to get everything I had. I had to cancel my class, my semester because everything is ruined. I don’t have my books, I don’t have my laptop, I have nothing to do my work on.
Former AMC Woodhaven 10 will reopen as Emagine Theatre this spring

Emagine Entertainment announced on Thursday that it will reopen the former AMC Theatre in Woodhaven as a 10-screen Emagine Theatre this spring.
Emagine Woodhaven will open in late spring, according to a release. The 10-screen theater is located at 21720 Allen Rd, Woodhaven, MI 48183, between West Road and King Road.
Emagine franchisee, Jon Goldstein originally opened Emagine Woodhaven in 2009, and sold it to AMC in 2017. “We are thrilled to have this location back in the Emagine Family.” said Jon Goldstein. He added, “We think this is a great market and allows us to bring big Hollywood movies and some unique content the community.”
