A split board agreed to partially move forward on a recommendation from activities directors Michelle Wade and Brandon Brown to boost the district’s number of coaching and sponsor positions.
Nine proposed projects, which had been among a list of suggestions proposed by the district’s staff, were approved by the board. Among them were the purchase of 30 iPads for $8,820. The units will be used in kindergarten classes, TAG and for yearbook activities.
The board did not identify any specific number for the district to purchase, but suggested a larger number might reduce the per unit cost and directed Peterson to make the best deal possible.

WAPELLO Wapello’s boys and girls basketball team members will be allowed to use their newly purchased third alternate set of uniforms, even though the uniforms do not strictly adhere to the school district’s uniform color policy, the school board agreed Wednesday on a split vote during its regular monthly meeting.
According to athletic director Michelle Wade, the athletes raised the funds to purchase the uniforms and then created the design and chose their colors. For the boys, it included shirts with a dark gray background with “Wapello” and the player’s number in the school colors of royal blue and gold. A wide blue stripe also ran down the side.
